PHANTUM: EXODE ZERO

ZSO-01: The Last Watcher

The first of the Watchers, and now the last. Scarred by a century of survival, he feeds on unstable Carbon Ether that corrodes his body and mind. His twin katanas and haunted helmet make him both guardian and ghost. He lives only for his mission, to preserve humanity’s memory.

Designated ZSO-1, he is the first-born of the PHNTM Watchers, a guardian forged to preserve humanity’s final sanctuaries.

More than a century has passed since the Exode Zero, and he is the last of his kind still standing. For raiders he is a nightmare, for the Astral Hegemony he is an obstacle, and for the forgotten Earth itself, he has become a legend walking in steam and shadow.

When the PHNTM initiative foresaw Earth’s abandonment, it created two hundred synthetic sentinels, numbered from ZSO-01 to ZSO-200. They were built not for conquest, but for endurance: protectors of Nexus Cores buried beneath wastelands, watchers of memory that might one day restore humanity’s soul.

ZSO-01 was the prototype, activated before all others. He fought alongside his brethren for decades, defending vaults from raiders, rogue AIs, and mutation-born predators. One by one, the Watchers fell. Their carbon ether reserves collapsed, their frames were dismantled by scavengers, or their programming corroded into silence. Only ZSO-01 adapted, scavenging impure ether from broken reactors, feeding on corruption to survive when all others failed.

ZSO-01 is a shattered monument to survival. His armor is cracked and repaired with scavenged plating. A torn cape conceals the ruined machinery on his back, leaking streams of unstable ether vapor. His helmet is etched with scars but still linked to a decayed orbital network, forever
receiving fragments of obsolete transmissions.

To raiders he appears as a phantom in the mist, to soldiers he is a ghost of Earth itself, refusing to die.

THE KATANA

A pair of blades crafted from manganese tungsten alloy. They are more than weapons, they are continuity. In his hands, tradition cuts against oblivion.

THE STEAM

The breath of unstable ether that sustains him, a sign of both survival and corruption. Each plume is a reminder that the cost of endurance is decay.

THE HELMET

His cursed crown, connected to a ruined orbital grid. It carries Echo Transmissions that blur the line between past, present, and possible futures.

ZSO-01 is the axis on which Earth’s forgotten history turns. To the Astral Hegemony, he is a relic that must be erased, a living reminder that the past is not dead. To the scattered survivors, he is both protector and myth.

To himself, he is bound to a mission without end, following the last command written into his code: defend the memory of humanity.

Blade Mastery

Perfect control of twin katanas, able to cut through
steel and synth-skin alike.

Adaptive Resilience

Centuries of combat have made him unpredictable, adjusting his style to counter both raiders and mechanized foes.

Corrupted Ether Surge

Consuming impure ether grants him bursts of raw power, but at the cost of system instability.

Vault Connection

His core is linked to dormant PHNTM bunkers, allowing him to access archives and activate long-forgotten defenses.

Echo Interface

His helmet captures spectral transmissions, sometimes guiding his actions, sometimes eroding his sanity.

ALLIES

Though solitude defines him, ZSO-01 is not entirely alone. Across the wastelands and ruins, a few have chosen to stand at his side. Together, they form no army, only a fragile thread of resistance. Yet in a world where one machine carries the weight of memory, even a handful of allies can change the fate of history.

SYYR HEX : Le Voleur d’Étincelles
KAEL VARN : Le Traqueur de Poussière
AYA-KIN : Voix des Spores

SYYR HEX: The Spark Thief

A rogue hacker and former colonial engineer. Betrayed after uncovering the regime’s manipulation of history, he crashed back to Earth and now aids ZSO-01. With his prosthetic arm and mastery of obsolete networks, he can unlock PHNTM bunkers and restore damaged Nexus Cores.

Once a pilot in the Hegemony’s recon corps, Kael disobeyed orders to save stranded civilians and chose exile over obedience. Armed with a custom rail rifle and unrivaled knowledge of the wastelands, he guides ZSO-01 through forbidden paths.

Born in irradiated fungal zones, Aya-Kin bears glowing skin where it wasn’t replaced by mechanical parts and a symbiotic bond with Earth’s mutated ecosystems. Considered myth by many, she commands spores that disrupt machines and whispers with the ruins themselves. To her, Earth is not dead, it is ready for a new era.

ENNEMIES

ZSO-01 is marked as an Omega-class target by the Astral Hegemony. Both military forces and mercenaries hunt him endlessly. ZSO-01 is no longer only a machine. He is the witness of a vanished age, the echo of humanity’s conscience, and the line between memory and oblivion. His survival is proof that history endures, even when empires demand its erasure.
So long as he walks the wasteland, Earth is not silent.

COMMANDANT THÆLOS REVAN : Législateur du Vide
GARDES DU LÉGISLATEUR : Les Juges Silencieux
CHASSEUR DE PRIMES : La Trace Noire
SΓ‰NATEUR VARNOV DAEL : L’Auteur du Silence
PILLARDS : Les Rats de Braise

COMMANDER THÆLOS REVAN: Legislator of the Void

Supreme commander of the Quasar forces. Once a criminal from the galactic underworld, reshaped by war and machinery, he now believes history itself is humanity’s weakness. His presence is marked by his towering frame, his mask, and the crushing gravity hammer he wields.

Revan’s personal guard. Biomechanical constructs created from the same code as the Watchers, but stripped of will and memory. Their helmets burn with crimson visors, their movements perfectly synchronized, and their high-frequency blades cut with absolute precision. They exist only to erase.

A faceless bounty hunter with no allegiance. Armored in matte composites, silent and efficient, he tracks ZSO-01 by the trails of Carbon Ether he leaves behind. His reward is not ideology, only the promise of a life beyond the ruins.

Architect of the Quasar initiative, Dael rose from historian to legislator by weaponizing memory. He authored the Quasar Act, declaring Earth’s legacy a threat to stability. Hidden behind glass-thread robes and neural veils, he embodies the cold logic of censorship.

Descendants of the abandoned, mutated and savage. They wear scavenged armor painted with bones and rust, carrying improvised weapons and endless hunger. Some serve the Hegemony for the promise of escape, others fight only to destroy.
